Lai par nākotnes interesantajām spēļmantiņām uzzinātu ātrāk daži ziņkārīgie ķeras pie paša pirmavota – patentiem, kas iesniegti no ražotājiem. Šobrīd daži interesantie patenti, ko Nitendo Wii ir iesniedzis Eiropas patentu birojā… domāju, ka šīs ilustrācijas diezgan daudz pastāsta par to, kurp dodas spēļu konsoļu attīstība:
